Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

Desires / secret petitions - Hebrew. - Misala "Desire is not considered to be a bad thing in and of itself rather it is a powerful force within the human that once submitted to the Lordship of Christ can become a wonderful tool for good, for advancement and for abundant living."

Origin of desire is - de sidere -"to await from the stars"- Strong sense of a need to bring to birth

Consider / con sidere means "to observe the stars carefully"

There is a sense that these are the most precious, secret desires of the heart that are unspoken even to the closest of friends. They are the treasures of the heart, guarded, incubated and awaiting that special time to be expressed, shared with only the one that you trust with your life.

• Matthew 12:34,35 For out of the fullness (the overflow, the superabundance) of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man from his inner good treasure flings forth good things,

• Prov 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

• Luke 2:51 … and his mother kept and closely and persistently guarded all these things in her heart.

Dream Killers - As a mother guards her unborn child, so we are to guard our unborn desires.

These very desires are planted in us as we spend that time in the presence of the Lord, waiting upon Him, drawing close to Him, and focussing all of our attention upon Him. The heart is a spiritual womb so be Pregnant with His plans and purposes for your life. Do not allow them to be stolen, killed or destroyed by doubt or worry, fear or anxiety.

Motivation – it is these deep desires that have the power to move us into action, to press on beyond that which would normally stop us, to ultimately see these precious plans become reality.

It is more effective to be drawn to something by desire rather than forced to do something through discipline, to do it because you want to, rather than by an act of your will. Want power overcomes Will power so recognise this and turn it to your advantage.

• 2 Chron 15:15 And all of Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them; and the Lord gave them rest round about.

• Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

(a) We now have to begin to focus on the good things that have come into our lives because Jesus has come to live in us. Just as a visitor to your house will bring some of their own things with them, so Jesus brings his own good things with Him, they are His but He brings them for us, and as we accept these and recognise that we have them, they begin to work in our life, causing our life to become fruitful.

Romans 10:8-10 The word is near you…in your mouth and in your heart…if you will confess with your mouth and believe in your heart you will be saved.

(b) It is not enough to just believe it in our heart, we have to say it with our mouth. To ourselves and to others.

(c) Also it is not enough to just say it with our mouth, we have to believe it in our heart. It has to be both.

(d) Faith comes by hearing. It is by the hearing of the word being spoken by your mouth that faith arises in your heart.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
